Emaciated Carved Wooden Religious Figure
I am absolutely in love with this piece! In all honesty I’d be happy if he stayed with me.
From what I was told, this piece came out of a church / religious, building in Italy, and depicts an emaciated beggar man, possibly if religious figure, could be depicting Lazarus.
The detail is absolutely amazing, albeit, missing his feet and arms, which only adds to the charm, and lovely patina.
I did think to fabricate a base, perhaps using metal rods, but have decided against this a) to ease with transport but b) in case the end user has an alternative plan for it, i.e wall mounting or suspending.
I’m afraid I do not know the age of him but clearly VERY old…. And could do with a sandwich.
At the widest point it measures 32cm x 140cm height.
Weighs approximately 12kg.
