COWRIE SHELL MASKS PAIR
Tribal style masks hand made with just brilliant detail (selling as a pair).
The shells seem to be stuck and some even sewn on using dark thin string, and both resemble a pumpkin look to them.
The inside seems to be a hessian material and have been coated in something for the aged look.
The horns are lovely and seem to be held with wire to keep them in place with a small amount of animal hyde hair covering the area.
One of the masks (the bigger one) has had some repairs and the mouth area has a small amount of flex.. but as you can see does not effect the look whatsoever.
I am afraid I do not know the age of them nor their back story…. The just have the right look for tribal art.
